So my complaint about Blue Knight making Ichigo look useless is actually a plot point...

I thought the backstory would be that Ryo originally didn't want to include ANYONE else, and wanted to fight the aliens himself, so he tested the thing and well....
He got lucky he can get to human back (somehow).

So he then begrudgingly, went ahead to involve the girls.

As for why the Magical Girl outfit... I don't know. ..... something something, the Mew Gene supposely gives you the form that would represent power to you, and for the girls, it was "magical girl" what represents power.

Imagine if the Mew Gene did work on Shirogane, and turned him into a Magical Girl
